Two views of the multi-level pool

The dock and part of the sand beach. Boats will pick you up for diving,
snorkeling, parasailing, glass bottom boat tours, etc
.

(To follow along on a map with the "walking tour" below, see http://www.cozumelparadise.com/location.htm)

The black arrow and circle is the Casa Phoenix building, El Cantil -- Casa Phoenix is on the next-to-the-top floor,
overlooking both the ocean and town. Directly across the street is Chedraui, the "Mexican Super WalMart" (groceries, liquor and wine, deli, toiletries, clothing, a buffet restaurant, etc., etc.). Also across the street: car, scooter and bike rental, laundry/dry cleaners, fast food, a restaurant/bar, ATMs, shoe store, multiplex cinema, Hallmark shop, computer store and some other stores.

The red arrow is the Cozumel Palace all-inclusive hotel (the former Plaza Las Glorias)l, immediately next door to El Cantil (north).

Between Casa Phoenix and the white arrow (the Naval Station), in order as you come to them, are:
a mini-mart (also sells liquor);
1.5 Restaurant and bar (upscale;)
Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville;
Neptuno disco;
Jeannie's Restaurant -- a very nice restaurant and bar right on the water;
several small shops;
Hotel Barracuda;
a local car rental company;
Subway sub shop (yes, just like home);
Rock 'n Java, which is a great place also on the water for breakfast, lunch or dinner (one of our favorite restaurants on the island, run by an American and her husband, extremely popular with the local Americans living here);
Dive Paradise dive shop;
another restaurant that locals say is one of the best on the Island,
and a few more small shops selling jewelry, clothing, souvenirs, etc.

All the above are within 3 blocks of Casa Phoenix. Half a block beyond is the beginning of the main tourist area::

Punta Langosta (the yellow arrow), the newest and most upscale shopping center in Cozumel and a favorite cruise ship dock. Carlos 'n Charlie's and Senor Frog's compete most nights to see how quickly they can destroy their customer's hearing. (Not to worry, Casa Phoenix is close enough to walk there, but far away enough not to be able to hear it!).

Another block along the ocean past Punta Langosta is the post office, the main shopping area, then the downtown Plaza, ferries to Playa Del Carmen, all the other shops and numerous restaurants, etc. I've never counted them, but there have got to be over 100 restaurants in this area.

We often see the Octopus (pictured below), the world's largest private yacht, anchored right off Casa Phoenix. Custom-built and owned by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, she is 413 feet with a crew of 60 and not one but two heliports. Of course she has the requisite remote controlled undersea rover, a 12-man submersible, a recording studio and a personal crew of 60, including several former Navy Seals. She reportedly cost him $200 million to build and about $2 million a month to operate.

It's not unusual to see the Octopus or Goygpus, Bill Gates' yacht, when you're at Casa Phoenix. Bill's yacht only has one heliport. Piker.
